The Committee of the Junee Rhythm and Rail Festival Incorporated is pleased to announce that Mr Nicholas Pyers has been appointed as the President of the Association, due to Mrs Jeanne Kennedy stepping down from the position due to personal commitments.
Mrs Kennedy stated “I leave the Festival in the hands of a capable and hard working Committee supported by a team of dedicated volunteers. Over the last couple of years we’ve worked together to make the Festival a huge success, and I know the Tenth Anniversary of the Festival, which is in March 2018, will continue to grow upon our previous efforts and the ongoing dedication of the Committee. I’m not disappearing altogether — I’m still actively involved with Junee Business and Trades, which provides the Rhythm n Rail Festival with various behind the scenes, but vital, services and have offered to help with some other tasks. I am planning on attending, and enjoying, a number of the 2018 Festival events and hope to see my fellow Junee residents over the Festival weekend.”
The Festival Committee wishes to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Kennedy for her dedication over the last few years in making the recent Festivals the success they were and for helping guide the current team towards making our Tenth Anniversary even bigger and better.
New President appointed
Newly appointed Rhythm n Rail President
Mr Pyers is a relatively new resident to Junee, having moved up from Melbourne a couple of years ago — for what was originally intended to be for only couple of months. However, he has found the friendliness of Junee very enticing and has now settled in with his “country move”.
With over 20 years experience with event co-ordination, fundraising and marketing for other volunteer organisations, Mr Pyers is a welcomed addition to the Committee.
Mr Pyers said “The Rhythm n Rail Festival combines an amazing harmony between two very different passions — Music and Trains! I’m excited be involved with the Festival’s Tenth Anniversary”
“As Publicity Co-ordinator and Webmaster,” Mr Pyers continued, “I’ve already been heavily involved with the many aspects of the Festival, so there will be no loss of continuity with exisiting events and projects. The majority of these events are already co-ordinated by independent groups and the Committee are just providing an overall arch to bring it altogether.”
“I’m looking forward to seeing the all the various events and activities coming together and providing the residents and visitors to Junee with the best Rhythm n Rail Festival yet!” Mr Pyers concluded.
At the same time, Committee also took the opportunity to appoint a Vice President, Mr Al Smith.
