Re-invigorated Committee elected and plans already underway for Tenth Anniversary of Festival

The Annual General Meeting of Junee Rhythm and Rail Festival Incorporated was held at the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club on May 2, 2017.

All Committee positions were filled, with a majority of previous Committee members continuing on, albeit with a few in new roles, plus a number of new faces coming aboard.

Jeanne Kennedy, the newly elected President, said “It was exciting to see a number of new faces at the AGM. As many of them are prepared to assist with various tasks and projects we foresee the upcoming 2018 Rhythm n Rail Festival, which will be our tenth anniversary, been our greatest event yet.”

“With the solid foundation of previous festivals, plus the addition of new events and activities introduced at the 2017 Festival, we will continue to build upon these experiences. The Committee is also looking at engaging more of the local Junee community to make the tenth anniversary a major highlight of the Junee Event Calendar for 2018” Jeanne continued.

The attendees of the AGM also voted to set the annual membership to the organisation at a nominal $1 per year. Membership to Junee Rhythm and Rail Festival Incorporated entitles the member receive our email newsletter, also to attend, participate in, and vote at General Meetings, We are looking at the possibility of offering membership benefits and discounts.

Membership payments can be made in person at the Junee Visitor Information Centre, which is located within the Broadway Museum, 82 Broadway, Junee during their opening hours (10am-4pm, every day except Tuesdays). Membership forms will be available online shortly, or can picked up from the Information Centre.

The Committee will continue to meet on the First Tuesday of each Month at the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club (unless otherwise indicated) and all members are welcome to attend. If members, or others, have submissions they wish to make to the Committee these should be submitted to the Secretary by 4pm the Monday before the meeting, either via the Association’s email address or dropping a physical copy off at the Junee Visitor Information Centre.

The Second Weekend in March each year sees the township of Junee, NSW transform into a hive of activity with thousands of visitors and local residents joining the celebrations of Junee’s unique rail heritage and to dance to the rhythm of the tracks. In 2014 the Junee Rhythm n Rail Festival was the winner of the NSW Inland Tourism “Community Festivals and Events” Award.

The Junee Rhythm and Rail Festival is a community-organised major event. March 9-11 2018 will be the Festival’s Tenth Anniversary.
