The 1st Junee Scout Group’s Float in the recent 2018 Junee Rhythm n Rail Festival’s Street Parade was voted as the People’s Choice Award.

Rhythm n Rail Festival’s Secretary and 2018 Parade Co-ordinator, Ms Linda Calis, and Festival President, Nicholas Pyers, attended the March 22nd meeting of the 1st Junee Cub Scouts to present the trophy to the troop.

In presenting the perpetual People’s Choice Award Trophy to the 1st Junee Scout Group, Linda congratulated the Scouts on their participation and wonderful enthusiasm, saying “Their float, marching, and singing were a highlight of the parade!”

The Junee Street Parade People’s Choice Award is voted on by the general public who watched the Parade itself, with the float or group with the most votes winning the award. The Trophy itself is a “Perpetual Trophy” which means Junee Rhythm and Rail Festival Inc retains ownership of the actual trophy, but the winner is usually able to hold possession of it until the next Festival.

The Trophy is currently on display in the Scout Hall in Gaba Tepe Avenue, Junee. However, in the next couple of months, the Festival will collect it so it can be placed in a special trophy display case to protect it. It will then either return it to the Scout Hall until the 2019 Festival or have it placed on display in a public location in town (maybe the Junee Library or Broadway Museum).
